Booking Through Thursday – Current Events

What are you reading right now? (And, is it good? Would you recommend it? How did you choose it?) – BTT

Usually, I am only reading one book or between books (I tend to read books in a couple of big bursts), but right now, I’ve got two on the go:

Hark A Vagrant by Kate Beaton – A collection of comics from eponymous web comic. I love this and have followed the blog for a few years. I’ll gush about it in the review, but basically, Beaton and I have very similar interests. I’d recommend it.

Walden by Henry David Thoreau – I’ve only read a few pages of this on the Kindle. It was the book chosen by the Classics Spin. It seems to be essential classical reading.

What are you reading this week?

Both of these sound great! I’ve read parts of Walden but have always meant to read more. I’ve never read that web comic, but it looks like fun. Thanks for the ideas!

Hi Kristin! Flip a coin or shuffle the books with your eyes closed! I’m usually between books because I like to reading when I have time and if I don’t, I avoid it. Have a good weekend!

The Beaton book was one of my favorites last year. So witty!

And I agree with you about Walden. It seems like essential reading, which is why it pains me that I’ve never managed to get more than 40 or so pages into it. I must be more disciplined!

Hi Sprite! Beaton is very witty and I’m really enjoying it all compiled. I hope you finish it one day. I’m taking my time with it, but I have a deadline from the Classics Club on it. Good luck getting back to it!
