Desires for Prosperity

“You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.”
-Henry Drummond

epigone \EP-uh-gohn\, noun:
An inferior imitator, especially of some distinguished writer,
artist, musician, or philosopher.

I was able to do yoga twice today which I probably haven’t done in months. It felt really nice, and I hope I can keep it up especially in the afternoons.

I saw Pump Up the Volume. Though I am at the sunset of my adolescence, the movie’s teenage themes still resonated with me. It was an awesome movie, and Christian Slater is very attractive in it. No one makes teen movies like they use to. The movies in the 80s and the early 90s had the sexual humor that the movies have now, but they also had some genuine substance about teenagers in general: angst, rebellion, first romances, etc. In this movie, all of that is united so well.

CBC’s China Rises documentry and the current new year makes me think about China. I think about it a lot. I am so glad I grew up where I was. All the problems I have now, emotional or academic, would be multiplied if I had stayed in Asia. I kept thinking that when I was China. I would be so different if I had stayed. It’s a big what if in my life since all my extended family is over there. Ultimately, that’s what I miss the most. China has so many issues, and I can’t get over how problematic it is when people look hard. It is so extreme.

All I want is just to be happy.
