FO Fridays: GAP-tastic Cowl

Gap-tastic CowlI wanted a giant cowl to go with my first leather jacket. I’ve had this pattern queued up for awhile now. It was between this or the Herringbone Cowl, but this one won over by being reversible and textured. I did forgot how boring it was to knit moss st/single rib though.

Gap-tastic CowlWrapped once, it’s a big, loose cowl that can almost double as hood. Twice, it’s a tighter and very warm. Glad I didn’t knit more or used bigger needles as it’s large enough unblocked. I was saving this yarn for a sweater, but I didn’t want to buy more yarn so I used what I had. Yay for stashbusting! I haven’t bought yarn since May.

GAP-tastic Cowl, started November 23, 2013, finished December 1, 2013. Ravelry Project Page
Pattern: GAP-tastic Cowl by Jen Geigley Ravelry Pattern Page
Yarn: Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool – Natural – one skein (227g/465yds)
Needles: 7.5mm long circular

Gap-tastic CowlModifications & Notes:

  • Doubled yarn making it almost Super Bulky
  • Used 7.5mm for a tighter gauge. Swatched on 8.0mm, but I didn’t want it too loose. Can always block it bigger.
  • BO: K2Tog TBL, slip stitch back onto needle, repeat
  • Knit to about 10”/26cm, but since it’s stretched lengthwise, it’s actually about 9”/23cm x 29”/74cm unblocked.

Cost of Project: $7 yarn
Would I knit it again? Yes, and more or less with the same mods.
