Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?
I haven’t been to either in years. I’m not big on them. I’ve never been on a roller coaster either. I use to like the merry go round as a kid.
Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations?
I usually try and excuse myself and run away to be alone or find a friend/ally.
Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?
It depends on with which people because “deep, philosphical topics” varies between people. In general, I’ll say an 8.5.
Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
No, I have not gotten a flu shot for a few years. I’ll get it if the opportunity to go to a flu clinic or whatever, but generally no.
Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television?
Since the WGA strike, I watch a couple hours less. At present, I will say about 5.

Appetizer -Name a great website you would recommend to others.
Soup – On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how often do you dream at night?
10. I’m a dreamer. I even lucid dreamed I was flying in San Francisco this morning. It was fun.
Salad – Did you have a pet as a child? If so, what kind and what was its name?
No, I had a couple of goldfish that kept dieing.
Main Course – If you had the chance to star in a commercial, what would you choose to advertise?
No idea. If I were a celebrity, I wouldn’t want to advertise things either. I would advertise for someone if they gave me a lot of free stuff like books (okay, no ads for books), clothes, bags and shoes, etc.
Dessert – What is your favorite kind of hard candy?
I ‘m not much for candy, but I love chocolate.

Appetizer – Name a funny habit you have.
I like to keep my hands warm and close to my body, so I often have one of my hands resting on my stomach for no reason.
Soup – If you could instantly know how to play a musical instrument, which one would you pick?
The two instruments I have tried and failed: the piano and the violin. Since I have the latter, it gets priority.
Salad – How long is your hair?
Half way down my back.
Main Course – When was the last time you forgave someone, and who was it?
I find that I sometimes need to forgive myself. I have to forgive my parents once in awhile.
Dessert – What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
Don’t make me choose. I guess the fridge and the oven don’t count? I like the microwave. If I had a stand mixer, I would love it very much.

Appetizer – List 3 emotions you experienced this week.
Futility. Frustration. Fatigue.
Soup – Name a car you’d love to have.
I’m a bad driver, but I do know cars even if I don’t want to own one: a Mini Cooper. I like Citroens too even though they aren’t sold in North America. I actually like the Toyoto Prius as it is a hybrid.
Salad – Describe your typical morning routine.
I’m a pretty simple girl: I get up, get dressed, wash my face, brush my teeth, moisturize, eat brunch/breakfast. Check my email. Yeah, not exactly worlds shattering.
Main Course – Have you ever emailed someone famous? If so, who, and what did you say to them? Did they reply?
No, I have not emailed anyone famous. I’m pretty shy about these things, and there are few famous I need to email frankly.
Dessert – Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?
Yes, I listen to Savage Love, Grammar Girl, Mr Manners, Style.com video podcasts during the fashion weeks, Doctor Who Season 3 when they are interesting (pretty rare this season), and when I remember, BBC World News and Radio France Internationale. I use to listen to the Word of the Day, but not so much.

Off to bed now. Hmm, Grey’s Anatomy sucks now. I’ll write my book review after I wake up. Library trip today, and more reading.

Appetizer ï¼ Tell about a time when you had to be brave.
To not go into too much detail, I’ve had more than one experience wherein friends have been suicidal.
Soup ï¼ Which upcoming movie are you excited about seeing?
I’m excited about a lot of movies. I really want to see Spider-Man 3, but I’m broke so not going to the theatres. Also, Pirates 3, Order of the Phoenix, and later this year The Golden Compass. I’m sure there are more, but I can’t name them all at the moment.
Salad ï¼ Name an item you try to always have on hand.
Pen and paper. I try to stuff them in all my bags.
Main Course ï¼ Imagine the most relaxing room you can think of. Now describe it!
I like studies and home libraries. I like a big beautiful window wherein there’s a view of trees or a garden. There should be comfy chairs, a nice desk. In another way, I also have a thing for very spacious, white and classy bathrooms. My bathroom now has the best view in the house for some reason.
Dessert ï¼ On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being highest), how spiritual or religious are you?
8. I’m not religious, but I was raised for a time to pray so I do that a couple times a year. I’m spiritual, and I try to be aware of myself, the world, and yes, the “universe” too. I would like to think about it more.

Appetizer – Name something you would not want to own.
A hummer.
Soup – Describe your hair (texture, color, length, etc.).
My hair is now past 1/3 down my back and growing steadily. It is layered, and has lightened considerably over the years making it very brown and maroon in the light, but generally “black” from afar. It’s think since I have a lot of it and can tangle easily. It’s super straight. I can’t put it into buns or updos. Lately, I’m trying to learn how to french plait my own hair, and it’s proving difficult.
Salad – Finish this sentence: I’ll never forget ___________.
The first day I came to Canada… which today is the anniversary.
Main Course – Which famous person would you like to be for one day? Why?
In one respect, I’d like to be a movie star or a model or some type so I can have a vacation from myself and see how the other side lives. In another way, I’d rather be someone like Stephen Lewis and actually doing something to help people in the world. The latter really is better.
Dessert – Write one sentence about yourself that includes one thing that is true and another thing that is not.
I have a cat named Mao. I named my Macbook Galahad.

Will be done clapotis by the end of the day. Knitting post tomorrow.

Appetizer – How fast can you type?
I haven’t measured it in a long time, but I do hit at 100 wpm when I need to and a little over. I think I am always doing 80 wpm at least.
Soup – What is your favorite online game?
I don’t like online game. I get pretty tired of them because I’m not much of a gamer. I like simulation games, but they aren’t so popular online.
Salad – On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 as highest), how intelligent do you think you are?
I really can’t say. I’m bad at school, but I don’t think I’m stupid. Between a 5-7? Measuring intelligence is very arbitrary and subjective. I don’t necessarily trust IQ tests either.
Main Course – Name three of your best teachers from your school years.
Mr. C from HS, Madame B. from Middle School, and Professor Mayer from freshmen year of college.
Dessert – What are your plans for this upcoming weekend?
Take home exam and then FREEDOM: knitting, plans for baking, Doctor Who watching, running, movies, books, introspective journal and video entries about ma vie. Good times and lots of productivity for May.

Appetizer – When you were a child, which crayon color was your favorite?
Yellow and Purple. Those were my favourite colours as a kid until I started liking blue.
Soup– On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how likely would you be to change jobs if it required you to move?
I don’t have a job at the moment, but I sorta want to move away. It all depends on moving where and the salary. I’m not attached right now.
Salad– Take all the numbers in your birthday and your phone number and add them up, one by one. What’s the total?
…a big number.
Main Course– Have you ever “re-gifted” anything? If so, what was it and who did you pass it on to?
I don’t think. I’ve considered it, but not yet.
Dessert– Name something you need from the store.
Errr, sport sunblock for later? Not much really.

Been a stressful week so I’m going to relax with movies and books this weekend finally. I got The Omnivore’s Diet by Michael Pollan finally today so that is the first up.

Happy Good Friday!
Appetizer – When you travel, which mode of transportation do you prefer?
It depends on where I am going, but I’m starting to like the long car rides. Planes are either a hit or a miss for me, but I still find air travel fascinating. I love trains. I’m nerdy like that.
Soup – Have you ever met a blogging friend in person?
I’ve only met one friend from online, and I knew her before we started blogging or I had my domain.
Salad – When was the last time you were really, really tired?
I’ve been pretty tired this whole week. My low point was probably Monday night.
Main Course – If you could have dinner with any one fictional character from a book or movie, who would it be?
Well, this is geeky of me but I’d choose Death or Dream from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. I probably wouldn’t survive the former, but she’s such a fascinating Death figure. It’s like the Monty Python sketch only I’m less oblivious, and we have more fun. My only fear with Dream would be I’d fall in love with him.
Dessert – Fill in the blank: One day, I hope to see _______________.
My parents truly happy and for all our dreams to come true. That’s how I would see God, I guess.

Appetizer – What are you proud of?
My parents, my family, my friend Sandy, and the things I’ve gone through and the things I’ve learned.
Soup – What is the best thing you’ve ever won as a prize?
I almost never win anything. It sucks. But I was surprised that in my last year of high school, I won a $1000 scholarship for taking this quiz about Canadian Heritage.
Salad – Name something you do that is a waste of time.
Haha. Well, a lot of the time I am online is a bit of a waste, and sometimes, when I watch TV.
Main Course – In what year of your life did you change the most?
Oh, goodness. Last year was pretty intense, but it’s a tie between the end of 1998/most of 1999 and 2004. The former had a more spiritual and emotional/ angst impact, while the latter really marked the beginning of this point in my life and a huge reflection about who I am or who I should be from then on.
Dessert – Where is a place you consider to be very tranquil?
Home is both the most tranquil and the most chaotic. I also like coffee shops, parks, and most places by the water.

Sorry for lack of updates. It’s the end of the semester, but once exams start in a couple of weeks, things won’t be as busy.

Appetizer: Who is your favorite news anchor/reporter? Why?
In national Canadian news, Lloyd Roberston. Even though I think CBC is a much better news network overall, CTV has better personalities and it’s a little sleeker. I read the news more than I watch it or listen to BBC World Service or RFI podcasts. I also watch The Colbert Report and The Daily Show quite a bit.
Soup: Name 3 foods that are currently in your freezer.
- Bananas for baking
- Turkey and assorted meat (did not buy this)
- Wonton wrappers
Salad: If you were to have the opportunity to name a new town or city, what would you call it?
My-town-is-cooler-than-yours-ville. Otherwise, no idea.
Main Course: What will most likely be the next book you read?
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
Dessert: What’s the first thing you notice about the opposite gender?
Depends on the circumstance, but these things I pick up on: height, voice, hair, clothing style, and intelligence/wit.
