Sunday Salon: November Reading Block
Posted on November 25, 2012 in Books
Hello everyone! Happy belated Thanksgiving to those celebrating it in the US.
I really need to wake up earlier, but I was actually a bit productive yesterday as I did some job stuff (did diddly all the rest of the week), fiddled, knit and even cleaned a bit.
Today, I anticipate a little of the aforementioned and reading Craig Thompson’s Habibi. I have been in a reading block lately so I am slowly making back to it by reading graphic novels. I am not sure if it is working, but at least I am reading something.
Does anyone else get this too? My other hobbies have been in the way and I am trying to be busy with other things. I still need to read about 13 more books to make my 75 for this year. I do get very bookish during the holidays though.
Have a good end of November, everybody!
Oh, other stuff can definitely get in the way sometimes, and it’s really hard to enjoy reading a book when you only grab 5 or 10 minutes at a time. I’ve found graphic novels helpful at those times, because 10 minutes can be enough to take in a good chunk of the story, though no doubt it means not paying as much attention to the artwork as it deserves.
Happy Sunday!
Hi Kate! I agree that graphic novels are great for short reading and I really like the medium. It’s easier to read but it can offer the same poignancy as reading standard literature. Thanks!
I have had weeks when the reading dragged….and I’ve realized that, in order to prevent such happenings, I need to mix up my titles enough to keep me moving along. Mysteries, drama, thrillers, etc.
Here’s MY SUNDAY SALON POST
Hi Laurel! I think my issue is that other things get in the way and I lose some of the momentum of reading after I haven’t done it in awhile. Have a good week!
It seems that lots of us book bloggers have been in some kind of slump. Maybe we just start out strong at the beginning of the year and we just need a break towards the end of the year 😉 Either way, I am glad you are still blogging!

Hi Lisa! The end of the year can be stressful for a lot of us so no wonder. Summer was my peak reading time and now I’m less inclined to it and have to focus on other things. I do like to blog and it does remind me to read again. Thanks!
I think everyone gets a reading block now and again, just got to be patient. You eventually find a great read that sets you off again.
Hi Jessica! I think that has happened and life has gotten in the way of books. Hopefully I’ll be a super fast reader in December. Have a good week!
