Booking Through Thursday – It’s Personal

Do you have a preference between “person” in the books you read? Do you prefer third-person to first-person? Or don’t you care?
And … why?? – BTT

Generally, I don’t have a preference because it depends on the writer to make it. I will say that I like when authors switch narratives best use with Third-Person Omniscient. I like knowing a lot characters.

I don’t care as long as it’s written well.

If I was asked the same question, I’d say I prefer reading through the main character’s perspective. I like it better because it you get to know what the character really feels and thinks. However, just like what you said, I don’t have problems reading otherwise just as long as the book’s well-written.

Hi! I like the main character’s perspective too, but it can be done either first person or third person depending on the writer. Thanks for commenting!

Can’t say I’ve really thought about this. As you said I feel it up to the author to decide what suits the story. I have recently been reading a fun fantasy series where the author switches between narrators. I have really been enjoying getting to know more characters and seeing different points of view.

Hi Jessica! I like when it switches narratives too as you get to know more characters and storylines e.g. Game of Thrones. Have a good week!

I tend to pick books based on the plot and characters rather than pov. Certain perspectives seem to click more with certain pov i.e. romances in 1st person, urban fantasy in 3rd person limited or omniscient. Here’s mine Backchatting Books BTT

Hi Villa! Yeah, I don’t think many people would pick on the perspective alone, but it does vary with genres. I think genre fiction is more experimental and varied. Thanks for commenting!
